Introduction to Drill and Ceremonial (ITDC)

The aim of this two-week course is to provide cadets with the fundamentals of followership, teamwork and leadership training, building upon what has been taught in Red Star of the Corps level program. This aim will be accomplished by the development of self- confidence, knowledge and skills, and by providing ample opportunity for practical application. By establishing a dynamic learning environment that exposes the cadet to a variety of followership, teamwork and leadership opportunities, this course will inspire the cadets to further pursue leadership training at the Corps and on the Drill & Ceremonial Instructor course.  

  1. Prerequisites: Training Year 2+ completed Red Star training by 30 Jun.

  2. Training Centres: Blackdown (Borden, ON), or Valcartier QC (French)

 

Expedition Team Member Course (ETM)

The Expedition Team Member Course allows cadets to deepen their understanding and proficiency in expedition-related knowledge and skills. It focuses on building the foundational competencies required for serving as an Expedition Team Member. Activities encompass navigation training, a five-day expedition, and specialized adventure training.

  1. Prerequisites: Training Year 2+ completed Red Star training by 30 Jun, and be motivated to pursue expedition training.

  2. Training Centres: Blackdown (Borden, ON), or Valcartier QC (French) 

 

Introduction to Marksmanship (ITM)

The Introduction to Marksmanship Course enables cadets to acquire specialized skills and knowledge in marksmanship, facilitating their participation in zone and regional marksmanship competitions. It equips them to mentor junior cadets in marksmanship while advancing the skills learned in the program.

  1. Prerequisites: Training Year 2+ completed Red Star training by 30 Jun, and be motivated to pursue marksmanship training.

  2. Training Centres: Blackdown (Borden, ON), or Valcartier QC (French) 

 

Introduction to Fitness and Sports (ITFS)

The Introduction to Fitness and Sports Course offers cadets a chance to refine skills acquired in the Corps/Squadron Program, aiding in fitness and sports training within the Corps/Squadron Program. Additionally, participants learn about embracing a healthy lifestyle.

  1. Prerequisites: Training Year 2+ completed Red Star training by 30 Jun, and be motivated to increase personal fitness. 

  2. Training Centres: Blackdown (Borden, ON), or Valcartier QC (French)

 

Introduction to Military Band (ITMB)

The Introduction to Military Band Course allows cadets to continue honing their understanding and proficiency in music, drill, ceremonial practices, and leadership skills acquired through the corps/squadron program or regional activities.

  1. Prerequisites: Training Year 2+ completed Red Star training by 30 Jun.

  2. Training Centre: Blackdown (Borden, ON), or HMCS Quadra CTC

 

Introduction to Pipe Band (ITPB)

The Introduction to Pipe Band Course allows cadets to continue honing their understanding and proficiency in music, drill, ceremonial practices, and leadership skills acquired through the corps/squadron program or regional activities.

  1. Prerequisites: Training Year 2+ completed Red Star training by 30 Jun.

  2. Training Centre: Blackdown (Borden, ON)
