We develop Courage, Leadership, and Self Discipline.
An Army Cadet is more than just a youth leader, they aspire to display the qualities of professionalism and receive experiences like no other. The leadership skills our staffing Officers and Civilian Instructors provide will prepare youth for any obstacles the future holds. Our training is conducted both in lecture form and in the field building to the Cadet experience. We promote dedication, mutual respect and positive personal conduct from all of our corp, making their experiences positive to look back on. Our staff aim to advance the highest qualities in all cadets. We set positive experiences to be our number one priority. Most importantly, the level of success is only measured by the quantity and quality you put into achieving success.
Commanding Officers Message
The Army Cadet program is a joint program between the Department on National Defence and the Army Cadet League of Canada.
#11 Strathroy Army Cadets have been parading and serving in Strathroy for over 45 years.
It is a national program for young Canadians aged 12 to 18 who are interested in participating in a variety of fun, challenging and rewarding activities while learning about the Army activities of the Canadian Armed Forces. Cadets are encouraged to become active, responsible members of their communities. They make valuable contributions to Canadian society on a daily basis in terms of environmental, citizenship and community activities.
Cadets also learn valuable life and work skills such as teamwork, leadership and citizenship.
Our staff is a group of Reserve Officers supported by Civilian Volunteers, all of who are experienced in running the program, and have been subjected to security screening.
The program itself is set up so that cadets in the first couple of years learn the skills and behaviour of a cadet. The following years are focused on leadership and instructional technique with qualified cadets running a lot of the day to day instruction and operation of the corps. There is also a summer camp portion to the program that gives the cadet multiple avenues of training culminating in the successful cadet getting a staff position.
